Scientific Training. Problem-Solving Trade. Human in Progress.
I’ve always been fascinated by how things work—specifically, how the human body functions and adapts. That curiosity led me to excel in Biology and Chemistry and eventually focus my university education on the Biological Sciences.
But my journey wasn't spent in a lab. It was spent in the field.
My "First Half" was a whirlwind of physical demands and technical challenges:
In my 20s: I worked as a forest firefighter, pushing my body to its limits in some of Western Canada’s toughest environments.
In my 30s: I transitioned into the complex world of mechanical and chemical operations for a large waterpark. As an underwater (SCUBA) technician, I was responsible for the literal "life support" systems of massive aquatic environments.
In my 40s: I moved into management and technical supply, supporting waterparks and pools across Western Canada from behind a desk.
For years, I stayed fit through baseball, yoga, and swimming. But the "desk job" changed the math. The long hours and sedentary nature of the work began to take a toll. Chronic auto-immune issues that had always been manageable started to flare up. My physical fitness dipped, and for the first time, I began to struggle with the mental weight of a high-stress, low-movement lifestyle.
I realized that the strategies that worked in my 20s were no longer enough.
I knew it was time for a change. I combined my background in Biological Sciences with my interest in holistic wellness—including certifications in energy healing modalities like Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) and BodyTalk.
I began looking for a "Balanced Blueprint"—one that accounted for the unique biological needs of the 40–60 age bracket. I started researching longevity, cognitive focus, and home essentials that actually improve quality of life, rather than just adding clutter.
I didn't build Second Half Right to be another generic health blog. I built it for the person who, like me, spent their first half working hard and is now looking for a smarter way to navigate the second.
Whether I'm tending to my beekeeping hives, practicing the piano, or diving deep into the latest nutritional research, I am dedicated to finding what works for us—right here in Canada.
Let’s get the second half right, together.
